FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Most of it happens in a shared document, in your own time. Expect a phone call at the start, a questionnaire, and then rounds of feedback you fit around everything else. Clients who reply quickly move quickly, and that is the only real variable.
-
It’s completely normal for your ideas to evolve as you see the design come together. That’s why the process is collaborative, with opportunities to provide feedback and refine the direction along the way.
If your changes remain within the original brief and agreed scope, I’ll work with you to refine the design. If you decide to make a significant change in direction or add additional spaces, we’ll discuss what’s involved and any additional design time before proceeding.
-
Not at all. Essencia’s eDesign process is designed to work around your life. Most of our collaboration happens online, through your shared design document, email and scheduled video calls. You can review your design and provide feedback when it suits you, rather than needing to be available during traditional business hours.
For full-service projects, we’ll arrange any onsite meetings at mutually convenient times.

Yes — and that’s perfectly fine.
If you already have your furniture or know what you want to purchase but need help understanding how everything should work within the space, we can focus specifically on space planning and layout. You won’t be paying for sourcing and selections you don't need. We’ll tailor the service to the level of help your project actually requires.

You don't need to have everything figured out — that's what I'm here for.
To get started, I'll ask you to provide some basic information about your space, including photographs, measurements or a floor plan where available, along with your lifestyle, needs, preferences and budget. You'll also complete a questionnaire designed to help me understand not only what you like, but how you want your home to feel and function.
The more information you can share, the more personalised your design can be.
-
That's exactly where having a designer can make such a difference. You don't need to make every decision on your own. If you're unsure between two options, don't know which size is right, or simply can't visualise how something will look in your space, bring it to me.
I'll help you look at the options through the lens of the overall design, your space, your lifestyle and your priorities, so you can make decisions with confidence.

This is where the design comes to life — and the level of support depends on the service you've chosen. With eDesign, you'll receive your design and curated shopping list, and you take the lead on purchasing and implementation. I'll give you the information you need to confidently bring the design together.
With Full-Service Interior Design, I can take a much more hands-on role, including sourcing, procurement, supplier communication, delivery coordination and installation/styling support. Either way, the aim is to make the transition from “this is the vision” to “this is my home” as seamless as possible.
-
Not because they're incapable of making them — but because there are suddenly so many of them. Which sofa? What size rug? Should the artwork be larger? Do these chairs work with the table? Is the colour too warm? What happens if I buy it and it doesn't look right? And then there's Pinterest, Instagram and hundreds of online stores offering seemingly endless possibilities.
My role isn't simply to give you more choices. It's to edit them. I'll help you understand what works, what doesn't, and why — bringing everything back to your home, your lifestyle and the feeling you're trying to create. The result should be a home that feels considered rather than complicated, personal rather than prescribed, and beautiful without feeling over-designed.
