As project manager for a new build, I selected all the finishes and styled the interiors.  The goal was a modern home design with classic features to create an elegant and timeless interior.

Symmetry, scale and proportion helped to create a welcoming home in the open-plan living area and bedrooms with cosy layers of upholstery, window treatments and soft furnishings. Carved internal doors and cupboards were chosen for added character and nostalgia. To enhance the sense of space in the open-plan living, we used polished hardwood floors to complement the clean, classic palette of white laminate joinery.

Layered accents of timber veneer in the laundry, along with coloured laminate for the overheads and black kickboards throughout, added character and charm. Brass handles and black cabinet doors overhead in the kitchen hinted at an Art Deco design style. Lighting for aesthetics and functionality were additions in all spaces using mid-century, Art Deco and modern styles. The plasterwork on the ceilings was square set for a modern, minimalist look.

The finished project embodied a fresh, modern home with a sophisticated yet timeless character.
